Ian Kegel, Head of Future Content Group, BT |
Ian Kegel heads the Future Content Group, a team of 10 researchers whose role it is to supply BT with the product ideas, technology and foresight which it needs to help its customers take full advantage of the world of digital content.
Having studied Electrical and Information Sciences at the University of Cambridge, Ian has worked in both the defence and telecommunications industries on projects ranging from radar signal processing to multimedia delivery, and has spent the last 10 years undertaking content-related research within BT. Ian co-ordinates a programme of work focused on audiovisual entertainment and multimedia communications, and seeks to develop compelling new applications and services for the digital home. He has collaborated with partners from industry and academia from across Europe in a variety of projects and initiatives including the DTI/TSB and EU Framework Programmes. Ian and his group are currently playing a major role in two FP7 projects, TA2 and MyMedia. Ian has presented to many external audiences including the IEEE, IBC, broadcasters and media producers, and holds several patents in the multimedia content field. Ian thrives on defining and delivering innovative projects in collaboration with BT colleagues and other leading organisations. |
