Robert Marsh, Head of talkbackTHAMES Digital, FremantleMedia
Robert MarshRobert Marsh heads up the newly established talkbackTHAMES Digital, a joint partnership between FremantleMedia Enterprises and talkbackTHAMES, providing a centre of excellence to pursue digital opportunities from new and existing FremantleMedia brands in the UK.  He reports into Rupert Brankin-Frisby, Commercial Director, talkbackTHAMES and Dominic Burns, Senior Vice President, Licensing UK, FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Robert is responsible for driving the UK strategy for the extension of broadcast properties onto digital platforms, as well as across digital licensing, telephony and bespoke online commissions.  In his previous position as VP of Interactive & Telephony, he played a prominent role in the digital development of a wide variety of high profile programmes including  Family Fortunes and the award winning Britain’s Got Talent, The Bill, The X Factor, and The Apprentice. In his current role he will continue to focus on extending new on- and off-air opportunities whilst working with current commercial partners and broadcasters to bring fans closer to their favourite brands and offer a true 360° experience.  The newly redesigned website for The X Factor exemplifies the work of Robert and his team.  To date it has had nearly 31 million page views, over 5.8 million visits and shown over 9.6 million video clips. All of these statistics are substantial increases on last year’s traffic for the site which is attributed to the on-going innovative development of the brand. This year the site launched sponsored food and music verticals; additionally, fans are encouraged to engage through other digital media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.  The official Facebook Fan site now has over 700,000 dedicated fans and Twitter, 27,000.

Last year The X Factor earned a much-coveted BAFTA nomination in April 2009 for the website, and a Broadcast Digital Award for Best Multiplatform Project in June 2009.

Robert joined FME from Channel 4 where he was New Media Commissioner, working on shows such as Big Brother, Hollyoaks and Deal or No Deal.
